Most Beautiful Railway Stations in India: Nandi

You will not see the name of Nandi in various lists of the most beautiful railway stations in India. But once you visit this beautiful place, you will realise that all those lists are just not complete because they leave out some of the best ones

Nandi railway station is to the north of Bengaluru, just over 50 km away from Majestic, which is the centre of the city.

You will not see the name of Nandi railway station in various lists of the most beautiful railway stations in India. But once you visit this beautiful place, you will realise that all those lists are just not complete because they leave out some of the best ones.

The front view of Nandi railway station

Nandi railway station is bigger than Dodjala, Devanahalli and Avatihalli railway stations, which are the other three heritage railway stations near Bengaluru. It has a lot more to offer in terms of architecture.

The design of Nandi railway station is a little different from Dodjala, Devana Halli and Avatihalli railway stations

The structure is well-preserved for something that is over 100 years old. One reason could be that the railway station is in constant use by passengers, mostly by people in the vicinity. Unlike in Dodjala, Devana Halli and Avatihalli, the old station has not made way for a new structure.

In the background are vineyards

There is a lot of space in the vicinity of the station. Beautiful, beautiful trees. Lot of shade; you can have a picnic even in the middle of the day. There are lots of places to sit and have a snack. You can visit grape orchards and vineyards in the surroundings. Then you have the Nandi Hills in the background. What more can you ask!

As if all this was not enough, you should check out the path from the main road leading to the station. You get a canopy almost all the way till the station. Like I said, this place will leave you speechless.

I can visualise a lot of beautiful events happening here: cultural, market for local produce or art and craft, live events. South Western Railway has plans for an amphitheatre. The venue has the making of a beautiful setting for a wedding.

I will leave you with the video of my visit to what, according to me, is one of the most beautiful railway stations in India.
